Statement

"Compassion is knowing your darkness well enough to sit in the darkness with others." - Pema Chödrön This is one of my most favored quotes and greatly summarizes what DAMNED truly means to myself as an artist, but also as curator and producer of DAMNED. What started as a desire to give proper respect and light towards dark art that is often an artist's path towards personal enlightenment, quickly became a home to found family, goodwill and acceptance. Often, I have found silent serenity in witnessing various relationships grow between strangers, from artistic collaborations to profound friendships to bonds much more sacred. Through these relationships also nurtured a seemingly natural call to help others who may unfortunately at times find it difficult to help themselves. I look forward to each event with great love and anticipation as opening night approaches and sadden when the doors close and the lights grow dim once again on the final night. But each year, through it all, something new grows within and I am changed. And I am deeply grateful for every one of you all for that gift. I miss everyone this year and am counting the nights until we all can be together again. Be safe and stay well.
